Aadhar Update Status Online By Enrolment ID & URN
It is well known to everyone that Aadhar Card Number is 12 Digit unique Identification Number, which is issued by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). According to UIDAI upto December 2018 total, 1.2 Billion people have enrolled for Aadhar Card. Once you are enrolled for Aadhar Card you get Aadhar Acknowledgement Slip which contains your Enrolment ID (EID). By using Aadhar Enrolment Number you can check your Aadhar card status online as well as offline.
Aadhar Card Update Status Online By Enrolment Number (EID)
I assume that you’ve completed your Aadhar Enrolment Process & you has Aadhar Acknowledgment Slip with you. You can track the status of your Aadhaar card online & you can download updated aadhaar card by visiting on the online portal of UIDAI’s official website. There is no fee or charges to check Aadhar card status on UIDAI’s official web portal.
Follow the mentioned steps below to check the application status of your Aadhaar card online at UIDAI:
Step 1: You need to visit UIDAI’s official website – https://uidai.gov.in/
Step 2: Now in My Aadhaar section click on “Check Aadhaar Status“. (as shown in image below)
Step 3: Now enter Enrolment ID, date & time of enrolment (available on Aadhar Acknowledgement Slip), security code and click on “Check Status” Button.
Step 4: If your aadhar card details verified and Aadhar Card generated, you’ll get a message on screen regarding it and also you’ll get options for Aadhar Download and to get it on your mobile.
Step 5: In case you want to download Eaadhar, than click on Download Aadhaar option.
Step 6: If you want to get your Aadhaar Number on Mobile, then click on Get Aadhaar Number on Mobile option.
Aadhar Card Update Status through URN (Update Request Number)
In my previous Post, I have discussed step by step process about How to Update Aadhar Card details like Address, Name or DOB at SSUP Portal Online. After Aadhar Updation/correction process you will get one URN Number to Track Your Aadhar Update Status Online.
Now, before moving forward to know the process of How To Check Aadhaar Card Status Online, here is quick summary about Aadhar Correction Process for those who don’t know the Aadhar Update/Correction Process.
Aadhar Update/Correction Process – SSUP
Step 1: First of all Visit Aadhar Self Service Update Portal also called SSUP
Step 2: Log in with you’re 12 digit Aadhar card Number
Step 3: After that Selection of Appropriate field, You need to Update from Name, Address, Mobile Number, Gender and Date of Birth which you want to change.
Step 4: Fill out Correct Information in the Given form carefully.
Step 5: Upload required Identity Documents for Verification purpose (for Example. PAN Card, DL, Passport, Voter ID, Ration Card etc)
Step 6: After the Submitting the Form, you have to select BPO Service Provider for Aadhar Card Delivery.
That’s it! Your New Aadhar Will be updated and available for download eAadhar within few weeks once your application will be accepted.
Check Aadhar Update Status Online by URN Number
Step 1: First, you have to visit the Aadhar Self Service Update Portal (SSUP).
Step 2: Now just click on “Check Address Update Status”. (as shown in image below)
Step 3: Now enter your Aadhaar Number, URN (Update Request Number), Captcha in respective fields and click on Check Status button.
Step 4: Now If your Aadhar have successfully updated then You can Download your New Eaadhar but if it’s in under process then you have to wait for few more days and then check Aadhar Update Status again using same URN Number.
Check Aadhar Update Status through Mobile Number
The Aadhar Card applicant needs to follow these steps to check Aadhaar status on his/her mobile:
Step 1: Type the following SMS “UID STATUS <14 digit enrolment number>” and send it to 51969 from your registered mobile number.
Step 2: In case the Aadhaar has been generated, the applicant receives an SMS containing the Aadhaar number.
Step 3: If aadhar is not generated, an SMS is sent to the applicant with the current status of the Aadhaar.
What is URN or URN Number?
Now in upcoming paragraphs I am going to discuss about URN Number. You may be confused or curious to know about what is URN. So, now I am going to tell you about URN Number.
URN – Update Request Number
Whenever you Submit your Aadhar Update/Correction Application you will get a URN (Update Request Number). Update Request Number – URN is required to know the Aadhar Card Update Status online, you have to keep it safe. By using the URN Number and Aadhar Card Number you can check Aadhar Card Update Status Online on the Self-service Update portal.

Reasons for Aadhar Card Rejection!
You are aware about Aadhar Card Update Application and Aadhar Update Status. Now After all these processes It is possible that your Aadhar Card Application may get Rejected. You can keep these points in mind while updating the Aadhar.
When you check your Aadhar Card Update Status Online you may see one status out of three below mentioned
- ‘Under Review’
- ‘Rejected’ or
- ‘Successful’
If you arre getting Aadhar Update Status Listed as ‘Rejected’, the following reasons might be possible for the Rejection.
- Inadequate documents were submitted while updating.
- Incorrect or wrong details submitted.
- Human error or technical error when filling the request form.
